Intensity Mainsail

Postby DaveinMaine » Wed Nov 26, 2025 4:50 pm

Has anyone bought a Mainsail for a Daysailer from Intensity? The price is great, but I'm wondering what they look like.
If anyone has (or could take) a photo it would be much appreciated.
I guess my main concerns would be how curved the leech is and what the reinforcement looks like.

Thanks!

Here are some of the threads that discuss experience with intensity sails. There may be other threads.

In each thread, there may be photos or images, or you can click on the user name and search for any gallery photos they may have.

But people rarely post pictures of their boat underway, probably because it requires someone else to take a picture. Still, you may get lucky that way.

My own decision making is based on averaging the cost over the expected hours or trips using the sail. I seem to be able to get 8-10 years of use or 120-150 afternoons on the water. I do sail in races, but they are beer-can that are not class events and nobody has new sails. Still, there comes a point when it's no good pretending, and that's when a replacement is ordered. Averaging $10 a trip would cover a $1500 set of sails, just for a math example. Going for something half the price would get the average down to $5 per trip. That's not a huge difference, as long as will actually sail that often.

In one of the threads I linked, somebody writes that you can afford to replace a cheaper set of sails more often. I don't see the point of that, because it doesn't change averaged cost.

That said, I might even be willing to pay $15 per trip, because sails that work well are more fun (and not only when you sail around the buoys).
