Does anyone offhand know the dimensions of the OEM boom tent?

i do not know the oem tent size, but i use a heavy duty white polytarp, 8' x 10' actual size. it works very well. i use bungees to attach it to the gunwales. i ordered it online for about $20, plus shipping.

Hello,
I just ordered a boom tent from intensity sails. When I receive it I can take some measurements. I'm assuming this boom tent has similar dimensions as an OEM tent. I'm anticipating playing around with the crutch to get the aft end of the boom to the right height.

I took a measuring tape down to the dock this evening when the young bride and I went for our after dinner cruise. 8 X 10 pretty much does it. The boom tent came from D&R so I guess we can consider it "original". My canvas has streteched a little.....so the actual dimensions are 98 inches by 122 inches. The distance from the top of the back deck to the bottom of the boom (when it is supported by my "original" boom crutch) is 38 inches. The grommets(sp?) are spaced about every 29 inches.

I've got the Intensity boom tent and I'm quite happy with it.

I use my main halyard as a topping lift and after laying the tent over the boom and setting the (provided) hooks over the rubbing strip, I just yank the halyard up tight and cleat it off.

The shock cords that attach the hooks provide plenty of tension and tightens the tent up nicely.

Another handy feature is the snap closure that wraps around the mast and keeps any rain from leaking into the cockpit.

It is open in the back, for ventilation, so you will get some rain in over the stern.
