New to me Day Sailer 1

Good afternoon to everyone. My hubby and I just acquired a "precision" day sailer 1. Unsure of the year as the previous owner did not have the title so we are trying to find out as much info as we can. There are some imprinted numbers on the transom. Just wondering if this is the hull ID#. Also the is a metal bracket in the floor of the boat we are not sure of. I am including pictures. Any assistance is appreciated.

In the case of your boat, PCW is for Precision, 13024 is your hull # (and the number that would go on her sail), B6 is her date of certification or manufacture (February 1986), and 86 is her model year, 1986.

The metal bracket is a bailer, often referred to as an Andersen bailer. To use it you open and close it with the wire lever. If it leaks, you can get replacement gaskets at any number of suppliers.

Thanks Tim for the help. We found this boat on Craigslist and got it for a song. We live in an area with tons of large lakes and also only a couple hours to the Gulf. Looking forward to getting out on the water again.

That is an Elvstrom bailer. I had them on my Thistle. Flip the "bracket forward and push the assembly down. It will bail the cockpit as long as are moving decently, usually offwind.

I think the names Andersen and Elvstrom are used interchangeably to describe this type of bailer. Two different brand names for the same basic unit?
