bought used ds2 with a 3" open crack at bottom of hull several inches behind the CB well . Appears to be from local damage. No stress cracks around it or connecting to the centerboard well
Is this a stress area or known problem area I should know about before repairing?
How do I repair it assuming full thickness 3" damage Remainder of the hull looks great without visable repairs Richard
thanks 4 reply Roger. don't know cross section of layers to know where the liner is. Assuming it is breached since water leaks out from the bildge. How do I post photos on the forum? Looks like a deep moon shaped flap cut in the hull w opening facing forward. Deciding on best way put on it's side off the trailer.
Any structural diagrams anywhere. Found some on the CB which didn't show pivot bolt location? Was hopeful this site would have all the specs, pictures, etc. without sailing everywhere looking?
Richard
email me off line at roger02 att mts dott net and I will send you pics of what is between the cockpit and hull. Also I would appreciate pics of your damage, so that I can advise you better.
The damage may have occurred from the boat coming off the trailer while in tow. If you do pull the boat off the trailer for the repair you will need to be careful that the hull doesn't flex or distort while you have her on her side. Brad
