Ahoy Gang!
I used to sail a Town Class about 46 years ago, then sold it and bought an engagement ring. It took me a while, but I finally bought another sailboat. This time it's an '82 DS-2 that is a fixer upper. I found it at a yard sale. I'm having a ball reacquainting myself with sailing and sailing terms and working on the boat.
My main purpose in sailing again is to teach my grandchildren the joys of sailing that I enjoyed so much in my late teens and in my early adult life.
I bought Roger Conrad's book and found it a great resource. I recommend it to any new sailer or old timer like me trying to become informed again.
I named my boat after the famous Arctic Schooner Bowdoin, built in 1923 by Donald MacMillan and still sailing to the Arctic with the Maine Maratime Academy.
