Hello to the group - New owner, older boat

Ahoy Gang!

I used to sail a Town Class about 46 years ago, then sold it and bought an engagement ring. It took me a while, but I finally bought another sailboat. This time it's an '82 DS-2 that is a fixer upper. I found it at a yard sale. I'm having a ball reacquainting myself with sailing and sailing terms and working on the boat.

My main purpose in sailing again is to teach my grandchildren the joys of sailing that I enjoyed so much in my late teens and in my early adult life.

I bought Roger Conrad's book and found it a great resource. I recommend it to any new sailer or old timer like me trying to become informed again.

I named my boat after the famous Arctic Schooner Bowdoin, built in 1923 by Donald MacMillan and still sailing to the Arctic with the Maine Maratime Academy.

Welcome aboard !! Sailing, like riding a bike, is something you can pick back up after several years. Glad you want to pass down your experience in both the fun you had as a young sailor and the mechanics of sailing as well to your grandchildren. They will have life long memories as a result. Brad.
